“28, If” – which takes its title from the license plate of the of the 1968 Volkswagen Beetle present on the cover of the Beatles’ Abbey Road (LMW 281F), is written from Paul McCartney’s perspective after hearing that he had died during the recording of the album and received letters of condolence over his passing. A low-tempo disco groove takes the song through a Supertramp inspired bridge section, where layered vocals, horns and strings weave over the driving bassline.
