TAMTAM is an experimental pop band based in Tokyo. Originally rooted in reggae and dub, they have gradually evolved into an innovative fusion of diverse genres, blending jazz, soul, new-age music, and exotica into their signature sound.
Their connection with Washington D.C.–based label Peoples Potential Unlimited led to the international release of their EP ‘Ramble In The Rainbow’ (2024). The title track was quickly picked up by Gilles Peterson for his BBC Radio 6 Music playlist and featured on a show on NTS Radio as well. The following week, TAMTAM appeared on the cover of Bandcamp Weekly, and their music gradually reached radio stations and DJs around the world. By the end of the year, their EP was named among the year’s best by Bandcamp, Mr. Bongo among others. They were also selected by Rolling Stone Japan for the “Future of Music 2024,” further solidifying their growing recognition.
In addition to performing at major domestic festivals such as Fuji Rock, TAMTAM has expanded their reach internationally with shows in Canada, South Korea, and Australia.
They dropped their full-length album ‘Where They Dwell’ in May 2025.
