With a push towards quality-not-quantity, Romanowski has garnered a worldwide rep for just a few releases on Future Primitive, Jazz & Milk, and his own Trouser Trout imprint, and has been remixed by the likes of Quantic, J.Boogie, Up Bustle & Out, DJ Smash, Tommy Guerrero, Zeph & Azeem, + more. As a 20 year veteran DJ he has literally travelled the four corners of the globe, having worked with Sugar Hill Gang, Sly & The Family Stone, Fred Wesley, The Meters, Doze, Louie Vega, RJD2, Mark Farina, Greyboy, Poets of Rhythm, and many more.
Making his debut on Bastard Jazz, Romanowski delivers two joints that won’t fail to disappoint longtime fans. On the “A” side – “The Instigators” is a beat heavy Rocksteady track in the theme of his previous “Steady Rocking” 12” with a tough live drum break, bubbling skanks, fuzzed out guitar and some female vocal affirmations that the joint is truly rocking proper. On the flip, “Sol Cumbia” is a dreamy tropical affair merging a dubby one drop with cumbia vibes, hazy bells, key skanks, meandering guitars, and trumpet work veteran LA trumpeter and arranger Todd M. Simon. (The Lions, Timeless Series, Breakestra, Antibalas, El Michels Affair, etc..)
